Dr Arleigh Reynolds and UAF coach Scott Jerome to discuss endurance athlete physiology in a free public seminar during the 2010 ADMA Sled Dog Symposium. The Alaska Dog Mushers Association is excited to announce a special free public seminar with world renowned canine physiologist and nutritionist, Dr Arleigh Reynolds, and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks [...] Have you ever dreamed of spending the weekend with some of the most successful mushers in the world? That dream can become a reality in Fairbanks at the 23rd annual Alaska Dog Mushers International Symposium being held on Oct. 8th – 10th, 2010. Champion mushers – Rob Downey, Egil Ellis, Hans Gatt, Lance Mackey, Rick Swenson, [...] Listening live? Ask the speaker a question! Theater presentations at this year’s symposium will again be streamed on the Internet. The link to listen to the stream will be adma.no-ip.org:8000. Prior to the symposium and during some breaks, a stream of past sessions will be [...] Pius Savage will join us for the showing of “Spirit of the Wind” on Friday night, Oct. 9th. He is the actor who portrayed George Attla in the movie and also starred in “White Fang”. This will be a very special event having the main characters and actors together, some of which haven’t seen each other since [...] Unfortunately, Ken Anderson will be out of town during the symposium. Aliy Zirkle will speak about foot care and Lance Mackey will fill in for the post-session discussion on fatigue-resistance in sled dogs. We also have Allen Moore speaking with Cim Smyth about mid-distance strategies. From noon to 3pm on Saturday, the Interior Freight Dog [...] The Yukon Quest will help kick off the symposium on Friday with a rookie workshop. The workshop, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, is strongly recommended for all rookies of the 2010 Yukon Quest (regardless of experience with other 1000-mile races!), but all future rookies are welcome to join as well.
