| News release, 27 January 2003 Challenge Series Race #5 sponsored by Prospector Outfitters, February 2, 2003Fairbanks, Alaska—ADMA will hold its Challenge Series Race #5, sponsored by Prospector Outfitters, on Sunday, February 2, at the Jeff Studdert race track on Farmers Loop Road in Fairbanks. Classes will include 1-dog, 2-dog, and 3-dog skijoring; and 4-dog, 6-dog, 8-dog, 10-dog, and Open (unlimited). The race starts at 10:30 a.m. ADMA has added the 10-dog class to this year's schedule for the last of the Challenge Series races, for teams gearing up for the championship 10-dog races coming up at ADMA and North Pole in February and March. Finishes in the 10-dog class, which runs the same distance as the 8-dog class, will not count towards the ADMA Challenge Series points championship. Sign up for the race will be held at the Mushers' Hall on Farmers Loop on Wednesday, January 29, from 7:00-7:30 p.m. Competitors will by vying for gift certificates from Prospector Outfitters, which are given to the top 2 competitors in each skijor class, and top 4 places in the 4-, 6-, 8- and Open classes. All classes except the 8-dog will be running the same distances as Challenge Series Race #4. The distances for each class are:
The AARP-sponsored division for older 4-dog teams will again be run in conjunction with the 4-dog class. You can designate your 4-dog team as an AARP team at the draw or the day of the race. If you can't make the Wednesday meeting, you can either have someone sign you up and pay your entry fee, or you can phone in your entry in advance with a credit card. You must buy or renew your membership to race, and no entries will be accepted without an entry fee. For those training on the ADMA trails or wanting to support our trail grooming efforts, annual trail passes are available for sale for $50 at the draw or the race, or by phone. This race is the final race in the ADMA Challenge Series. Points in each race are awarded as follows: 1st place - 5 points; 2nd place - 4 points; 3rd place - 3 points; 4th place - 2 points; 5th place and all finishers - 1 point. For each class, the dog driver with the most cumulative points for all the Challenge Series races this season is awarded the Points Champion trophy. The current points leaders are:
