The -42 F weather as late as Thursday prior to the race may have deterred potential participants, but instead warm temperatures in the upper 20s were more of a problem for canine competitors in the second Moose Creek Cabin Race. Racers were treated to a spectacular sunrise as they started up the flanks of Wickersham Dome in the White Mountains National Recreation Area. Rocky DeMers covered the 16 miles into Moose Creek Cabin in not much more time than did the race organizer on snowmachine. After an hour break and lunch at the cabin, racers took a somewhat more relaxed pace back to the trailhead and Rocky widened his lead. Thanks to Ken Severin for use of his snowmachine and trailer and Chris Terzi and Tom McGrane for starting racers and Jim Herriges for organizing the race and providing snow machine support.
